If you haven’t watched The Office, it’s fine. Kidding. You’re missing out on peak television and comedy as a whole if you don’t. You’ll also be missing out on one of the best characters in television ever made: Kevin Malone, portrayed by Brian Baumgartner. He may be the butt of the joke for a lot of moments, but he’s one of the sweetest guys you’ll see.
SODAPOP‘s new song off their Club Soda EP, “Kevin’s Famous Chili”, pays homage to the character and famous scene in the show where Kevin is just trying to bring his officemates a big pot of his famous award-winning chili but spills it all over the floor because of how heavy it is.
Watching it, the scene was funny, but you can’t help but feel a tinge of sadness at the same time as you see Kevin trying to scoop the chili up with paper. A mood that the artist feels with his life, and one that the song relays well to its audience.
The track is fairly chill in terms of atmospherics and aesthetics, but it has an upbeat undertone to it that doesn’t put you to sleep. The short bridge pulls you back a bit to absorb everything, then pushes you back into the fray in such a wonderful and satisfying way.
What we’re trying to say is: you should really listen to this song, and you should really watch The Office while you’re at it. Trust us, you won’t regret it.

Hans is an engineering student with a growing dismay for math. As ironic as that sounds, he’s always looking for a break from digesting numbers and symbols by indulging in things he likes instead: music, writing, and video games. This guy is also the type to hog the microphone on karaoke night, so be careful when you’re inviting him for some singing over drinks.
