Hanwho creates electro-funk excellence with a splash of traditional African music on his latest single.

Based out of South Africa, Hanno van den Berg is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter who’s been releasing genre-mending tunes since 2018. His sound has taken on many forms as he’s experimented with a diverse array of textures and sonic influences.

Hanwho attributes his ambition for creativity to an “existential yearning for something more connected and harmonious” and his vision for cohesion can be heard on his latest offering.

“For You” takes the listener on a vibrant journey of funky bass lines and eclectic percussion. Combining traditional African music styles with that of modern Western styles, the track is a mosaic of competing musical worlds.

Vastly different, yet euphonious instrumental voices guide the single while van den Berg’s airy and ethereal vocals add a soothing softness to the track’s otherwise brightly-colored aura.

A jazzy guitar and synth breakdown at the three-and-a-half-minute mark is the icing on the cake before “For You” comes to an abundant and stylistic close.
