Hong Kong-based musician Ka Ngai Luk, aka lut, has unveiled a new instrumental track titled "Inside Wanna Out". Released independently on July 20, 2024, this latest addition to lut's growing repertoire puts forward once again the project's signature blend of groovy drums, absorbing guitar riffage, and compelling basslines.
"This is a dynamic song with a loud intro and outro. The middle part builds up from quiet to loud and narrow to wide," says Ka, who cites Tides From Nebula and Tycho as influences.
All of lut's releases this year have noticeably showcased a softer, more intricate sound, blending ambient and electronic elements, making the new single feel like it has been cut from the 2023 debut, Living Matters.
"Inside Wanna Out" is as spacious as it is driving, with meticulously crafted dynamics that erodes and rebuilds as it progresses. It opens with solo drumming and slowly evolves into a pulsating full band euphony. It then dips into a minute-and-a-half-long reflective blurring before exploding through the final snare hit.
