Maris Racal confirms split with Rico Blanco

"Rico and I are over," an emotional Maris Racal said at a recent Star Magic Spotlight press conference. "It's fresh, it's been a few weeks… loneliest, emptiest weeks I've ever experienced in my life."

Racal said she has no short answer as to why as the situation has been complicated. "Rico and I, our universe was so beautiful, so full of love, laughter, music, spontaneity, everything," she continued, briefly reminiscing their time together. "Sa five years namin together, we were always on the same page."

The 26-year-old actress did not directly cite reasons that led to their parting but admitted going through changes in her life, saying, "Maybe I turned to the next page and saw a new perspective sa life. I had visions of who I want to become… how I want to evolve. I'm so curious about the world. The truth is I'm going through changes and alam naman natin change is either good or bad, but what I hate about change is it's inevitable."

Racal revealed having approached Rico Blanco about her personal issues, saying the 51-year-old former Rivermaya frontman "took it like a man" before calling it quits, maintaining it was a "polite separation."

Musicians Racal and Blanco are long-time collaborators and made public their relationship in May 2021, which initially sparked discussions due to their age gap.
