Two-time Grammy Award-winning producer Zach Allen just dropped his latest single, “Wall Around My Heart”, today. Allen, who has recently assumed the stage name ZA, is admittedly having a great time applying his music production expertise to his very own project. Over the last 10 years, Allen has found success in the recording industry, having worked primarily as an audio engineer.
“Although the lyrics are somewhat sad, the music is happy, hopeful, and uplifting which was the goal of this indie folk gem,” he says of his latest single. “‘Wall Around My Heart’ tells the story of going through a traumatic breakup and building a proverbial wall to protect yourself from getting hurt again,” he adds. Allen describes the track as semi-autobiographical, having gone through an extreme period of writer’s block after ending a relationship.
In a press release, Allen said he wrote “Wall Around My Heart” after legendary songwriter Beth Neilson Chapman encouraged him to do so. He confided in her that he literally built a wall around his heart and nothing creative was coming to the surface, to which Chapman replied, “Now you need to write that song.”

Sam is a mediocre artist, musician, and the founder and editor in chief of UNXIGNED. He is a Juris Doctor who leads an excitingly boring life in the confines of his room juggling studies with passion and dreams. He is terrible at finding balance but gets by anyhow. He wants you to follow his artist pages and channels for when he decides to up his game. Pretty open for collabs and will mix your would-be hit song for cheap.
