Swansea-based guitarist Daniel Mallory, known for his work with the band Swan Hill, has ventured into solo territory with his new project, Amnesiacs. His three-track debut effort, Everything Is a Canvas, sees Mallory getting his hands on atmospheric and expansive soundscapes.

Amnesiacs draws inspiration from the soaring post-rock spirit of influential bands like Explosions in the Sky, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and Mono. These influences are evident in the EP's ambient elements and spacious feel, which allows for a transcendent listening experience.

Everything Is a Canvas was crafted at a home studio in Swansea, Wales, in the spring of 2024, and features drum contributions from Ivan Korniienko. The 17-minute work opens with "First Light", a piano-based track drenched in ambient hues. Following this, "Sleepwalker" delves into a more introspective space, fusing soft guitar lines and drums. The essence of Amnesiacs becomes crystal clear with the closing track, "Everywhere/Nowhere", which begins like a lullaby and gradually builds up with holding emotive crescendos.

Without a doubt, this is a debut that is both a nod to Mallory's influences and a bold step into the post-rock territory. Stream Everything Is a Canvas below.
