Brighton-based band Slung have unveiled "Laughter", the powerful lead single from their forthcoming debut album, In Ways, set for release on May 2, 2025, via Fat Dracula Records. This trauma-fueled track offers a raw and cathartic exploration of strained familial relationships, with vocalist Katie Oldham calling it "a face-off that's been a long time coming."
Drawing on personal experiences, Oldham's emotional delivery paired with Ali Johnson's searing riffs and the rhythmic strength of bassist Vlad Matveikov and drummer Ravi Martin provide a visceral introduction to the band's sonic universe.
Slung have quickly garnered attention for their electrifying sound and dynamic live presence, having built a loyal fan base even before releasing music. "Laughter" follows two singles released in late 2024, cementing their reputation as one of the most promising acts on the indie rock scene. The band's collaborative energy is expected to shine throughout In Ways, which includes tracks inspired by themes of power dynamics, generational trauma, and even Spanish bullfights.
Thematically, In Ways draws on personal and conceptual narratives, making it a deeply introspective yet broadly resonant work. The album's influences span from Deftones and Queens of the Stone Age to more contemporary acts like Wednesday and Chappell Roan.
To celebrate the album's release, Slung will embark on a UK tour this spring, bringing their high-energy performances to fans across the country:
- May 2: Winchester – The Railway Inn
- May 3: Brighton – Green Door Store
- May 4: Cheltenham – Frog & Fiddle
- May 5: Reading – Purple Turtle
- May 8: Southampton – Heartbreakers
- May 9: Northampton – The Gar

He is a Juris Doctor who leads an excitingly boring life in the confines of his room juggling studies with passion and dreams. He is terrible at finding balance but gets by anyhow. He wants you to follow his artist pages and channels for when he decides to up his game. Pretty open for collabs and will mix your would-be hit song for cheap.
