Japanese experimental artists Marihiko Hara and Polar M (aka Masumi Muranaka) have dropped their first EP since 2016. The new collaborative effort, entitled Music for Home Vol. 1: Our Season, explores the duo’s interpretation of the shared state of mind our world has been put in since 2020.
Reflecting on the emotions that dominated their lives over the past year, the composers came up with four tracks of pure transcendence, evoking feelings of resilience, joy, and hope. In a year filled with uncertainties and fear, Hara and Muranaka decided to reignite their chemistry, crafting exquisite sounds that float adrift their imaginations.
The material was composed, produced, and recorded while being apart, and yet it proves to be just as ethereally immersive and breathtaking as their previous project, Dance. “They are like the preserved energy in the soil, ready for the next spring,” the pair said of the record in a statement.
Our Season is the first installment of the Music for Home series curated by indie label mü-nest. It aims to channel and examine the mood and feelings that the world deals with as the pandemic continues to change our lives.

Sam is a mediocre artist, musician, and the founder and editor in chief of UNXIGNED. He is a Juris Doctor who leads an excitingly boring life in the confines of his room juggling studies with passion and dreams. He is terrible at finding balance but gets by anyhow. He wants you to follow his artist pages and channels for when he decides to up his game. Pretty open for collabs and will mix your would-be hit song for cheap.
