Texas native singer-songwriter Chavis Chance has released a new song today. The track, titled “Call Me”, illustrates Chance’s finesse at combining Americana, R&B, and soul—a welcome new addition to his growing list of singles. A modern day old soul, Chance is no stranger to calling upon the musical influences of classic songwriters like Neil Young, while also adding a modern flair of John Mayer-ish blues.
Although originally from the States, Chance is currently carving out his music career in Spain, regularly performing and recording original tunes. His latest, “Call Me”, is a lyrical ballad that moves the listener with detailed melodies and beautiful vocal delivery. A heavy chord progression that could move you to tears is juxtaposed with bright instrumentation and heartfelt lyrics, making this song so emotional. And emotion has always been Chance’s forte.
“Call Me” is a focused and immaculate display of feeling, a track that could only be written by an artist with a seasoned knack for soul. “The song explores the limits of unconditional love, reminding a lost friend that he is there waiting with a shoulder to cry on,” Chance says of the number. “It balances a bitter sense of emptiness,” he adds, “with a—perhaps somewhat cynical—message of hope and love.”
