B.Miles drops new single "Emergency Contact"

New York pop sensation B.Miles has released her latest single, "Emergency Contact", her first release of 2024. The track comes as a follow-up to last year's full-length Different Pages. Released under Moon Crawl Records, "Emergency Contact" is set to be another important release in the singer's career.

The song explores the experience of being without a designated person to call in an emergency, particularly when that person is no longer part of your life. "A few summers ago, I sat with a bunch of friends in a backyard asking them who their emergency contact was. I've always been fascinated by how someone picks one," she says of the track, explaining, "I moved across the country from my family many years ago and depended on my significant other during my 20s to be my emergency contact. When we split up as I entered my 30s, I had a quick realization that without them in my life, there was nobody I could consider to be another choice."

Employing a minimalist and spacious instrumental style, the indie artist puts her lyricism at the forefront of the song, clearly conveying the emotions she has infused into it. "I sit alone/ Trying not to overreact/ Staring at a line that says, 'emergency contact'/ And all I see/ Are their eyes that all look at me/ Like a spotlight saying that I don't have somebody," she muses over a dreamy, light musical motif.

"Emergency Contact" continues to showcase B.Miles' ability to tell personal stories through her music, offering comfort to those who share the same reflection. "Adding another layer to that is, in reality, your old 'emergency contact' is still around—and you can still technically reach out to them—but there's a fear that holds you back from doing so."
