Los Angeles-based duo Tangerine—Marika Justad and Toby Kuhn—have unveiled "Timeless", the captivating lead single from their upcoming debut album, You're Still The Only One. Set to release on October 25, 2024, the album delves into themes of existentialism and the passage of time, with "Timeless" serving as a lush introduction.
The track encapsulates Tangerine's signature dreamy sound, characterized by Justad's airy vocals and Kuhn's eclectic production. "Timeless" is a poignant love song interwoven with existential dread, as reflected in its evocative lyrics: "I wanna leave me at your mercy / Fire on the mountain, slow descent." The song's lush video, directed by Marika's sister Miró Justad, visually complements its lyrical depth.
Justad describes the album as a journey through the raw and contradictory forces of life and nature, influenced by personal loss and the desire for connection with the organic world. "After a death in my family, I found myself negotiating with the universe," Justad explains. "It became an urgent question for me, this idea of reconciling with a world that seems to reject simplistic narratives."
The release of "Timeless" signals Tangerine's evolution from their early successes, including tours with Bleachers and collaborations with notable producers.
