Warning: This is fire.

Emerging from a scene that is arguably the most controversial of all metal subs, four-piece hardcore band Kvilla’s own translation of black metal notably rises far beyond the genre’s bygone iniquity. The heavy, harshly abrasive sound on which they forge their songs is clearly a must-hear for metalheads looking for new metal tunes to bang their heads to.

What sets Kvilla apart is their faculty for incorporating elements of hardcore and shoegaze (no, really!) into their rather uncaring, tight, unamused way of brewing things. But no, they don’t buy what you’re thinking, they’re just normal guys enjoying black metal as an innocuous influence more than a mishandled doctrine. Peace out!

With frontman Sean Ossoway’s fierce vocals firmly seated in their songs—recorded or live—Kvilla’s inviting realness is nothing short of riveting.

Kvilla are Ossoway, Ryan Leigh, Adam Peeroo, and Andrew Nestor.

Check them out! They’re set to release a five-track EP. https://kvilla.bandcamp.com
