In our last feature, we talked about a brothers-fronted band called The Elston Guns. Today, we’re stoked to introduce you to a band with sisters—together with their partners in life! Yes, folk-pop group In the forest is the joint effort of couples Becky and Alex Lee-Richards and Rachel and Bob Hardwood-Stamper, whose strong fellowship makes their team second to none.
The lovebirds were able to make the best of the lockdown period by spending much of their time finishing and promoting their self-titled debut EP. And guess what, it’s finally out today!
Hailing from Hertfordshire, the indie quartet has been receiving positive reception from radios and music publications for their beautiful, relaxing folk-rooted music. In fact, they were on a tour before the global outbreak of COVID-19 happened.
The couples have done a myriad of radio guestings beginning last year and have notably gained publicity through their live performances (from festival and support slots to in-store appearances). Their communal dedication has led to In the forest becoming a household name in the local gig circuit and recently landed them a record deal with independent label Last Night From Glasgow.

Often likened to American folk rock vocal group The Mamas & The Papas, In the forest blends atmospheric, four-part harmony with acoustic, country-based layers of tuneful instrumental juices, thanks to their innate musicianship and flair. Their sound is akin to that of The Staves and Lucy Rose but with an idiosyncratic glamour that is clearly homegrown.
Stream their EP now and keep an eye out for their next move! Connect with In the forest today.
Becky just gave birth to a baby boy a few days ago. Send your well-wishes to her via their band’s Facebook page!

Sam is a mediocre artist, musician, and the founder and editor in chief of UNXIGNED. He is a Juris Doctor who leads an excitingly boring life in the confines of his room juggling studies with passion and dreams. He is terrible at finding balance but gets by anyhow. He wants you to follow his artist pages and channels for when he decides to up his game. Pretty open for collabs and will mix your would-be hit song for cheap.
