"I'm completely lost." Two years ago, in some of the darkest days of lockdown, Gavin Fox turned to his wife and said those words. Luckily, he talked to someone. "I went through a difficult but liberating process of self-discovery. I experienced an awakening."
As he was "waking up to himself," he picked up a guitar for the first time and poured out music. His upcoming album, Awakening, was born. The third single, "If I Could Survive This", takes his journey and newfound excitement for life and offers it to anyone who needs a hand.
The opening guitar riffs are warm and inviting, and with so much to say, his lyrics tumble out. "I was running scared from my thoughts in my head." The uptempo drums pulse beneath the words, guiding us and him to the sweet resolution, "now I found my way to happiness."
"If I Could Survive This", and Awakening as a whole, IS best summed up by his question and answer: "what if I never discovered this freedom, this acceptance, this awakening? I could never have found this contentment." And he wants to share that contentment with everyone.
